What would you call round, ancient Irish alphabet if not Runes?
The Irish wrote in very stick-like forms, called Ogham, but that's not what I mean. They wrote in a very round version of Roman alphabet, but that's not what I mean.
In many pictures in a book I once had of Irish sites, there were places of worship and tombstones and other "artifacts" that had a very rounded futharc on them- I thought it was futharc, recognizing some symbols, but not being able to read ancient Gaelic.
So, though are no actual references to Irish Runes, would it be fair to say that at one time they did use their own version of runes?
Answer:
Without a picture, it's hard to say. It's possible the writers' handwriting might have rounded the futharc runes a bit, or it could've been a style of calligraphy that surfaced for a few years and then died.
